The Coosa Chorus is comprised of students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. These students rehearse weekly to prepare music for different performances throughout the school year. Mrs. Kirk, Coosa's music teacher, leads the Coosa Chorus. In Chorus, students will experience many genres/styles of music and will grow to improve their singing technique, musicality, and confidence as part of an ensemble. Contact Mrs. Smith
Coosa's National Elementary Honor Society is a nationally recognized program for students that have met the four pillars of Scholarship, Responsibility, Service, and Leadership. Each year our members are responsible for completing an individual service goal, a school goal, and a community goal. Examples of our individual student goals include students building and funding Lending Libraries in their neighborhoods to collecting gently used books for a children’s non-profit. Our first community goal was a canned food drive for Help of Beaufort which was a tremendous success.
The advisors to Coosa’s NEHS are Mrs. Isley (Math Interventionist) and Mrs. Bryant (5th grade teacher).
Each year 4th and 5th grade students apply for a spot on Coosa's Robotics Team. After many months of practice with the LEGO Mindstorm EV3 robot, they travel to compete in The Storm the Citadel Mystery Robotics Competition where they have won many awards over the years. Mrs. Porter, Coosa's STEM Teacher, leads the Coosa Robotics Team.
We began our beloved school garden the 2020-2021 school year.
Our students participate in planting, growing, and caring for our school garden in a variety of hands on ways throughout the school year. Our students are also able to apply academic concepts in our garden classroom.
During the Spring of 2021 many of our teachers and staff members completed Clemson University's course and workshop, School Gardening for SC Educators.
