Cynthia Jeffrey

University of South Carolina, 2003 Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education Currently pursuing my Masters in Integration of the Arts at Lesley University Highly Qualified

My name is Cynthia Jeffrey and I am honored to be your child’s first grade teacher. This is my fourteenth year of teaching in Beaufort County. I have taught 2nd grade down to kindergarten, but love 1st grade the most. I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina in Early Childhood Education and am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with the Integration of the Arts.

Although, many of your children will think I live at school, I sincerely try not to.  I believe in a balanced life, taking quality time out for my family and myself.  My husband, Stephen, and I love to stay busy and active.  We are hardly ever at home on the weekends and if we are, there are always things planned to accomplish.  We have been blessed with two beautiful children, Corban, who is our quiet and sensitive ten-year-old.  He will be attending 5th grade at Coosa and then there is our highly spirited daughter, Olivia (Livvy), who will be attending the kindergarten program at Coosa as well.  We also have one very lovable Chihuahua named Rosa who never leaves my side.

I believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can send me a note in your child’s folder, email me, call me at the school or for emergencies at 843-322-6113. I will also do my part by sending out a newsletter every week or two weeks depending on what’s going on to update you on what we have been doing in class as well as things that are upcoming. For individual concerns, I will contact you by phone, send a note home, or email you (if an email address is provided.)

Please feel free to participate in your child’s first grade year as much as you are able. Helping hands are always needed. Whether it is reading a story to the class, helping with field trips or class parties, or any other participation will enrich our classroom experience. The first grade team have been working very closely over the summer planning out a wonderful year with themes revolving around “Good Citizenship and Laws” - to include the election process, “The Sun and the Moon”, “Mapping”, “Shadows and Light”, “Plants and Earth Materials”, and “Families and other Cultures”.   We are planning some amazing field trips to include the SC Aquarium in Charleston, SC and two other trips that need to be approved before relinquishing those details.

Our school day will begin at 7:45 am each day and end at 2:45 pm. You may arrive after 7:25 am each day and come directly to class.  If you need to arrive before 7:25 am, please go directly to the cafeteria. Our lunch time will be from 11:40-12:05. Many of you have a lunch account in place and can immediately begin depositing money. If not, please visit PayPams to begin paying for meals and/or visit the BCSD website and apply for free/reduced meal application.

Our classroom mission statement: We are Mrs. Jeffrey’s Giraffes and we strive for excellence in everything we do!
