History

Coosa Elementary School opened its doors in 1998 and is named after the Coosaw Native American tribe which once populated the area. There are many spellings and pronunciations of this now extinct tribe, but the most preferred pronunciation is Coo-saw. The bobcat is our school mascot, the only native wild cat found in South Carolina today. Bob the Bobcat was selected by the student body and our school colors are dark green and light yellow.
